SPARKS GREENBRAE LIONS DELIVER THE FIRST 75 SETS OF 'PERSONAL HYGIENE KITS' TO THE RENO HOMELESS SHELTER

Lions George, Marylou and Suraj made the first delivery of the eyeglass case personal hygiene kit to the exceptional Record Street Community Assistance Center which comprises of the Men's Drop In Shelter, Shelter and Services for the needy, St. Vincent's Transitional Center, Women's Shelter, Family Shelter and Emergency Housing. There is even a Homeless Clinic and Treatment Center. Shepherds Closet has also moved into this area and provide free clothing items to those who need it.  They would love clothing donations anytime.  It is a 52,000 square foot campus, as Sandy Isham, Development and Community Relations Officer, likes to call it.  It is new, it is modern, it is very clean and used as a shining example for other shelters around the country!  These are run by Volunteers of America and they should be commended by all.

All resident clients are expected to help and continue looking for employment when they are in residence there. They can stay up to six months but the average stay is four months. St. Vincent's Dining room serves 1,000 dinners each day for the clients in residence as well as anyone who wants to stop by for a meal. It was an eye opener and while the economy has not been kind to many Americans the last four years, it has been cruel to some.
