SPARKS GREENBRAE LIONS PARTICIPATE IN MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY

On October 27th, members of the SGL Club took over 80 personal hygiene kits along with 80 tubes of shampoo donated by the Peppermill Hotel and two dozen toothbrushes donated by Sala Family Dentistry in Reno.

Lions Pat, Hugh, Shirley and Suraj took over the kits to the Record Street Homeless Shelter and met with Sandy Isham, Community Relations Officer for the Campus. They also received a tour of the facility which includes separate, Men, Women and Family Shelters, Good Shepherds Closet, a Medical Clinic, Restart Center, Reno Sparks Gospel Mission and a Triage Center for treatment of substance abuse.  It is a very neat and clean facility where the emphasis is on getting the clients to be productive members of society within six months or less.

SGL will be considering a Sock-Hop drive (collecting used and new socks) for the shelter, or sponsor a monthly birthday party at the Family Shelter, or filling the Holiday bags of cheer with toiletries for adults.
